Welcome to the
Scandinavian Society for Psychotraumatologists RITS
®

We aim to increase connections between Psychotraumatologists across Scandinavia, bring members together for mutual support and sharing of experience and work to maintain and enhance the professional skills of Psychotraumatologists.

What is a RITS® Psychotraumatologist?

A Psychotraumatologist RITS® is specialized in dealing with stress and crisis management and is trained in helping people who has met with violence, great losses, bereavement, accidents, problems of great guilt or other things affecting quality of life. The help consists of a short set of sessions. The core purpose is helping the person realize what has happened, why the person responds as he or she does, and how he or she can get on with life.

The RITS® Training

RITS is a 6-week training taken in 6 steps, with each step lasting 5 days. In addition, a number of oral and written exams must be passed along the way. The education is approved as further education corresponding to 1 year of study and can thus be included in a relevant master's degree from bachelor's level.

The RITS-method has been developed by psychiatrist and psychologist, MD. Are Holen through his research and many years of work with people in crisis and disasters in Norway and internationally.
